|
What is the storage capacity of the Freezer?
The available storage space in the Freezer is 510 L, and it may hold up to approximately 40,000 vials of samples.
|
Is this freezer frost-free?
This freezer requires manual defrosting.
Most -86 freezers do not have an automatic defrost function. This is because the mechanism is different: -86C freezers use direct cooling system while auto-defrost freezers (-20C to -40C) are based on forced air circulation system.
|
How long does it take for the freezer to go down to a setpoint?
The "pull down" time is the time required to go down from ambient temperature to a setpoint once the freezer starts to work. Our freezer has an average is 400 mins from 25C to -80C.
The "pull up" time, on the other hand, is the time required to go up from the setpoint (-86C) to ambient or other set temperatures (like -40C) while the power is off. For this model, the average time is 350 mins from -80C to -40C in a condition of 25C ambient temperature.
|
What is the door opening recovery time?
This varies depending on the surface area that comes into contact with the outside air (i.e. how wide the door is open), as well as the content that is put into the freezer (i.e. if boxes or racks are pre-chilled). Given extreme situation, it takes 25 mins for our freezer to recover to the setpoint temperature -86C after having the door opened for 2 mins at 25C ambient temperature.
|
How loud is the freezer (in decibels or DBA)?
Our freezer is very quiet and it is measured to be approximately 55 Decibels.
|
Will the alarm work wirelessly to notify us through email or text message?
Currently the telecommunication function is not supported. You can set the freezer to alarm if it goes above or below a certain temperature.
|

Can you tell me more about the Pressure Equalization Port? We have a different freezer and port freezes up and we can't open the door. I want to buy a freezer that will not have this problem.
Our Q5126 freezer door is equipped with a self-defrosting feature, and we have not experience any issue with the freezer door freezing. That said, we would also advise to avoid repeated openings/closings of the freezer door (i.e. allowing approximately 5 minutes in between).
|
How many shelves are included in the Q5126 freezer?
Our freezer comes with 4 stainless-steel shelves that can be adjusted, depending on your needs.
|
Does the freezer fit through a 34 inch door (standard size for laboratory entrances)?
The external dimension of the freezer is about 36.6 inches wide; but the freezer handle is removable such that the body of the freezer can fit through a 34 inch door.
A standard wrench and hex screwdriver can be used to remove the handle and the lock hardware (be sure not to over-tighten when replacing it). Many lab doors are standardized to 34" so this will go through the doors. Depending on the space and the items behind the door in the lab, we find it helpful if we open the freezer door and turning it while pushing it into the lab.
|
Does the freezer use Freon?
Our freezer uses CFC-free refrigerant. Freon is a trade name for a class of chemicals known as Chlorofluorocarbons or CFC's. This is in an effort to reduce Ozone depletion. The exact name of the refrigerant is proprietary and cannot be disclosed as this is a licensed material.
|
Is your freezer CSA or UL approved?
Freezer Certifications include: ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO 13485, CE, TUV
While our freezer is not CSA or UL approved, it is ETL certified by Intertek. Intertek which manages the ETL label is an independent testing agency and it, like UL, uses standards set by Underwriter Laboratories (UL).
Therefore, our freezers are certified to meet UL and CSA standards.
|
What kind of battery is used for the freezer?
There are two units of 12V back up battery, which is used to power the alarm system in case of power failure.
