Probe Design & Synthesis Service
abm offers a one-stop TaqMan Probe Design Service, aiming to save time, effort, and money by preventing complications or even failures in qPCR experiments. A well designed probe is one of the key requirements for a successful qPCR. Using appropriate software and virtual simulation, scientists at abm are able to design TaqMan Probes with minimal predicted complication of secondary structure at the binding sequence region on the template, thus ensuring an effective binding and ultimately an efficient hydrolysis of the probe. However, the effectiveness of the TaqMan probe still needs to be tested experimentally and thus our probe design service provides two probe designs, as a fail safe. In very rare cases, a re-design of probes will be provided without additional charges if both initially designed probes do not work in assay.
To place an order, download and fill out the Probe Order Form including all required information such as your probe name, probe sequence, 5’ and 3’ modifications and the synthesis scale. Email the form to quotes@abmgood.com.

Additional Info
abm offers traditional dual-labelled probes for use in real-time PCR to increase efficiency, sensitivity and specificity, as well as allowing simultaneous detection of multiple gene targets in a single reaction. We offer qPCR probes in a variety of reporter/quencher combinations. All probes are HPLC purified and are delivered in lyophilized powder in tube format. The following table outlines our synthesis scale and the minimum guarantee OD yield for each service.Cat. No | 5’ Reporter Dye | Quencher | Synthesis Scale | Min Guarantee Yield (OD) | Min Guarantee Yield (nmol) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
C134 | 6’FAM | BHQ1 | 100 nmol | 2.0 OD | 10 nmol |
C135 | 6’FAM | BHQ1 | 250 nmol | 5.0 OD | 25 nmol |
C136 | HEX | BHQ1 | 100 nmol | 2.0 OD | 10 nmol |
C137 | HEX | BHQ1 | 250 nmol | 5.0 OD | 25 nmol |
C331 | ROX | BHQ2 | 250 nmol | 1.5 OD | 8 nmol |
C332 | Cy5 | BHQ2 | 100 nmol | 0.4 OD | 2 nmol |
C333 | Cy5 | BHQ2 | 250 nmol | 1.5 OD | 8 nmol |
C334 | 6'FAM | TAMRA | 100 nmol | 2.0 OD | 10 nmol |
C335 | 6'FAM | TAMRA | 250 nmol | 5.0 OD | 25 nmol |
Notes:
1. The synthesis scale indicates the initial amount of 3'-bases.
2. Average OD yield was determined for a 20-mer; Calculation: 1 OD = 5 nmol = 30 ug; may vary for sequences with GC content >70%, >3 purine stretches, or strong secondary structures.
