IMPACT Contaminant Detection Services
Contamination of biological samples such as tumor cells, hybridomas, and viruses used on research animals can cause disease outbreaks or affect the integrity and outcome of results. abm uses the advanced Infectious Microbe PCR AmplifiCation Test (IMPACT) testing method to detect a wide-range of known contaminants. This method is superior to the traditional Mouse Antibody Production (MAP) test in the following ways:
- PCR test result does not rely on mouse immune response
- PCR testing does not require the use of live animals
- PCR testing is more sensitive and can detect smaller amounts of infectants
Our preselected contaminant detection service options include the most common viruses and Mycoplasma species that might afflict mice, giving reliable and quick results.

"abm has always been very helpful with technical assistance in any of our questions and concerns. I also consider the price for the services provided as very competitive, as other companies charge a multiple of abm's price."
